11/29/2022 0 Comments Metallica ride the lightning toneDave Mustaine would also eventually form another band, Megadeth, who would be fierce rivals with Metallica, a rivalry that would push both bands to be their very best. Why is this important? First of all, Dave wrote much of the band’s early material, which they kept and turned into many of their best songs. Early in the band’s career, they would hire a guitarist named Dave Mustaine, but he was fired before the band recorded their first album because of his alcoholism. And in the future i planning to get the original "Megaforce, Elektra (Allied/Specialty), France, Canada ect ect pressings but before i do that i want to know your thoughts about every pressing you got the album.Hello, Welcome to my second review! I’ll be taking a look at Metallica’s 1984 Album, Ride The Lightning.Ī bit of history before we begin: Metallica was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield. So that was my thoughts about these pressings i own. One of the worst vinyl pressings i had in my entire collection. With that version you can't shake your head at all. Except you heard sound failures in the whole songs and massive pops ect, the remastered is embarrising. Perhaps some very usued in a very bad shape cassette can sound better than this pressing. #Metallica ride the lightning tone series#Anyway its very good pressing and for those who cant have some original pressing or something, this is a great vinyl to have with a great cheap price.Ħ)Universal 2008 45 rpm series Remastered: This is by far the worst version of the album i have heard the album. But the reason for that is the remastering and not the pressing itself. And finally they up "Lars" drums that attract you little bit. Also the instruments from here they sound more separate and the music dont give you so much panic and aggression. Perhaps you miss some Guitar deformation against the other obove pressings but you must be careful to notice that. Anyway this pressing it sound really very good. The reason for that is because this album has already very natural and good production compare it with the others. Compare it with the later "Master of puppets" and "And justice for all" remasters from the series this one is the winner. Overall i'm not so satisfied with this pressing and in general with every "MFN" original pressing.ĥ)Blackened 2016 Remastered: First of all i believe they did great job on this remastered and really it sound pretty good. Also in the last songs from both sides the songs had some sound deformations. This pressing buried that legendary song and you cant enjoy it. The first two songs they sound very powerful and realistic but the rest not so good and specially "The for whom the bell tolls" that is the worst song version i have heard in my life. But after i start to collecting and other pressings i find this one little moderate. Perhaps the best song version i have heard today.Ĥ)MNF (Music for Nations) 1984 1st pressing Original: This was my first original pressing i got the album because it was very famous and also very cheap compare it with the others originals. The best thing about this version is the "For whom the bell tolls". Really very clean and dead quiet pressing too. The songs they dosent sound so loud and powerfull like the obove pressings but they had very natural sound and that matters in the end. The weak part here is the "For whom the bell tolls" that it sound little weak comparing to the other songs and that i have notice and in the 1st MFN press.ģ)Nexus 1984 Japanese original: This version is very expensive and if you want the obi it cost more. Specially the "Fight fire with fire" and "Greeping death" they sound amazing. The music it sound very brutal and natural from here. Terryfing sound for sure.Ģ)Roadrunner 1984 Original: This is my favorite original version of the album right now. For sure i never heard the album so good before. The "DM" mastering give all the brutallity and the aggression to these songs. So i planning to tell you what pressings i got the album and i hope to do the same some of you.ġ)MFN 1987 45 rpm reissue: The album from here it sound so brutal and powerfull. Also its obvious too the 80s pressings sound more realistic and natural against the later remastered/reissues versions despite the 2016 remastered pressing it sound pretty good to my ears. The album created by analogue equipment and its logical it sound better from there. I ask from everyone to say his opinion about any vinyl pressing he got from the album. I know that many others have create similar posts but with this i want us to be more specific on the titled.
